The metoffice are forecasting blizzard conditions. Looks like those people who haven't had any/much snow so far may well get loads early next week!

I am due to fly out of Heathrow next week - what are the chances of delays???

Justafleshwound ~ OYBBK might be the best person to ask about weather later in the week. I think though if this weather system goes the way forecasters are saying, any flying from/to the southern half of the country, on Tuesday and Wednesday next week will involve delays.

Been keeping an eye on the weather for next week.

Met Office already has warning out for m y area for Tues.

From what Met Monkey etc are saying - this could be a biggie.Shock

Be interesting if it actually happens, knowing how the charts have changed this week.

I'm all ready for it here, food shoppings done, all essentials are bought ( normal weekly shop). I have a nice store cupboard full of the basics, so in the event of really bad weather then I don't have to go out.

Just need the snow now Grin

Should also say that forecasting snow is really difficult, so if the weather system goes charging off in a different direction, the UK could get totally different weather!

I am beginnig to wonder if we will get anything here! Not a sniff of snow!

I knew buying the snow shovels was a good idea. Hmm

Moonmother ~ I went shopping on Wednesday morning, just as the cold snap started. Most of it was that I needed to do the weekly shop, some of it was for Christmas but a bit of it was in case of blizzards/unable to get to the shops.
I've also told my Mum and Dad to go and do their shopping this afternoon (before any rush starts!) and I'll get some extra milk tomorrow just in case.
So I'm ready for the snow too now!

I think Manchester is going to miss out on the worst of it!

But i will have to wait and see.

Winter lol wandering around the supermarket this morning I overheard quite a few people saying they were buying extra, 'just in case of bad weather'.

It'll be panic buying next.

My brother keeps ringing me and asking for weather updates, I just keep telling him even the forecasters have no idea whats going to happen. I just told him to be prepared for snow, then if we do get it then they won't have to get involved in mad rushes for food etc , lol.

I've just looked at weather station and it's changed to a rain sign- oooh may actually be getting a sprinkling of snow soon Grin

I should be grateful that we don't have snow really.

If we did then I would have to supervise wet play.

But I want some snow!

If it does happen as some of the models suggest, then yes it would be very serious indeed.

All the models suggest the low will occur, but it is forming in an area where the available data is relatively sparse. The models are not in agreement as to position of the low, the speed with which it goes through or the depth of the low. All of which are critical.

It is unusual for the met office to advise so early, its not because it will probably happen but because of the seriousness of it if it does so. Forecasters will probably not have a real handle on the situation until the end of Sunday.

We have snow!! So not forecasted but 'curtain twitched' at 4am and there it was, throwing it down. We've got about 2cms and looking to the East, there might be a few more showers coming. What a surprise to wake up to!

yay!!!!

Armageddon seems to have been cancelled for next week. Models now not developing the low at all. Not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved!

So it, at the moment looks like another week like this one.

Report
winterpetunia · 27/11/2010 08:33

Oh no, I don't know whether to be happy or sad with that either!

Is there any chance the models might go back to developing that low? Over the last few days they seem to have gone between 'it's snowmageddon' followed by 'oh no it isn't' and back again!

We've got snow and we weren't forecast any.

I knew I should have gone shopping yesterday...

I suppose there is a chance, at the moment the low isn't even a wave. I don't think there is much hope though. oh well.

Oh well. Still there's plenty of winter left for snow!
