I think it's "around the middle of the first year", babies not being an exact science.

26 weeks is 6 months, being half of 52 weeks

around middle of first year when they can sit, find mouth with food in their hand and chew it about a bit.

Baby development is not an accurate science. My daughter grabbed food off my plate and I felt it was a bit anal to stop her from having it. She was 24 weeks at the time and could sit well unaided.

some children can walk at 9 months, where as other equally healthy children walk at 2 years old. The day when your child is ready for food is not the same as every other child in the UK.
