Weaning

milk as an ingredient

My dd is now nearly 8 months and enjoying lots of different food, mostly she's just picking stuff up on her tray but occasionally she will eat baby cereal off a spoon.

I realise milk is not suitable as a main drink, but is there anything wrong with adding it to the baby cereal? The box still recommends mixing with expressed breast milk, water or formula. Does anyone know why this is? It's "stage 3" mixed grain cereal for over 8 months, not baby rice.

It's fine to add it to food from 6 months: yoghurt, cheese sauce, in cereal etc.

I'm not sure why the box doesn't say that. Perhaps it's made by someone who sells their own milk.

Thanks, I was just wondering the same thing. The written advice always refers to cows milk in sauces etc but not specifically cereal so have always been a bit confused about this but reluctant to buy formula just to add to weetabix.
