blw - mushy food?

DS (16 mo) has been blw, but has only really had food he can pick up! He has had the opportunity to experiment with cutlery but prefers to use his fingers. This is fine, but when he has mushy food it can be an issue. He doesn't like cereal so at home the only mushy food he has is yoghurt - we would load the spoon for him and help him a bit. At nursery though it seems all the meals are mushy, so should he be able to eat with a spoon himself by now? I suspect if we left him to it he'd use fingers and get in a hell of a mess!

Can you load up the spoon for him and let him use it like that? Though tbh I'd let him use his hands.

Yes -that works though he still likes to turn the spoon upside down sometimes before putting it in his mouth! I don't mind the mess while he learns, I'm used to it as a blw-er especially! But I hope nursery (whichever one we choose) doesn't mind.
thanks

what food are nursery serving? do you mean they're serving normal food mushed up? have you asked them to give him the food the older kids are having?
