General advice is 6 months. Look closer and it says follow the signs shown by your child and no earlier than 17 weeks. So if your child is showing all the signs that they're ready for first tastes of solids then you are still within current guidelines to start at 17 weeks.
6 months is a catch all and means anyone starting "early" will probably risk at 4 months. Say no earlier than 4 months and people will risk 2 months.

do you have anything to back up that assertion?

it's proven there's no benefit to doing it earlier than 6 mos and there are some downsides, more gastro hospital admissions i think, OP. and it's two less months of weaning hassle, imo, and lets you go straight onto finger food.

and if you want more BLW info, try here www,babyledweaning.com. if you've got a five year old then it'll mean you don't have to make two dinners.
