DDis 8.5 months old, is blw and on formula. I am having a huge problem getting her to drink any water/ diluted juice at all - have tried cups, beakers, bottles - everything - but she shakes her head in refusal and clamps her mouth shut. She sees cups as fun as she can splash her hands in the water, but not much else. She has wet nappies and is fine and healthy in other ways, but i'm sure that ff babies need water, don't they? Should I be more worried? Any tips? Maybe she's getting some liquid from the fruit/ veg she eats? I don't remember this ever being an issue with DS...

Don't worry just wait for a while and try again, she doesn't "need" water yet. she is getting plenty in her milk etc..

I used a spoon - my dd is bf but during the very humid weather she needed more. It was a silicon one and she has after a month of trying like you every beaker / cup taken to the Nuby beaker with silicon spout it is soft and squashy and doesn't spurt hard into her mouth we have dribbles but I am now looking for another.
I also put more liquid in her food but she is part BLW part puree so easier.

My ds is breastfed but a terror to get to drink water. We solved it with this cup I think ds's problem is that he's too lazy to tip a cup up so a straw is the perfect solution, it has never leaked either

They only need water in very hot weather, if they are constipated or have a fever imo. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Ohh, thanks for the tips everyone! DH broke laptop screen so haven't had access for a few days. Reassuring that I don't need to be stressing too much about it. We had a funny bit of progress yesterday at tea with friends - she picked up the other baby's beaker and tried to drink from it, but whenever we put hers in front of her she batted it off the table. Seems she is fussy about colour and design!!

Just keep offering it. DD hated her cup at this age, and used to bat it away violently. Six months on, she was slugging water enthusiastically from her cheapy Tomee Tippee cup. They are awkward little customers!

just wondering - are you giving her tap water or cooled boiled water? DS would only ever drink tap (no juice or anything else, just tap water )

And don't start putting juice in, if you EVER want her to drink water.

Have tried tap water and diluted juice so far... Forgot to add that the other way i've found her drinking water is sucking the sponge in the bath (shame she shares it with DS who is nearly three and prone to weeing in the bath
