Drinking from and open cup

From what age do most little ones start drinking from an open cup?

I have just started introducing DD to an open cup( her TT without the lid) and was suprised that she was actually drinking from it.
Still needs reminding not to wave it around though!

DH thinks I'm pushing her too early but she seems ready for it. Shes just turned 11mths.

My DS is drinking from an open cup (doidy) - he is 7.5mo, I am shocked and impressed everytime he does it - and very proud!

I think we underestimate them sometimes!

I never bothered, because of the waving thing

she got the hang of it in a single day at 20m when we ran out of sippy lids

Ds was happy to drink from an open cup at 5.5 months or so. Only let him do it when sat at the table though

My dd drank from a doidy cup from 6 months. She soon moved to any open cup. She's never had a traditional sippy through she uses a sports bottle when we are out and about. She's now 18 months.
