BLW, cheese and rash...

Hi - my DD is 24 weeks and for the last week or so I have been giving her bits and pieces of finger food - melon, cucumber, mango, strawberry, cracker and cheese. Yesterday she had some 'plastic' gouda and was fine with it. Today I gave her some 'Black Bomber' (strong) cheddar and her hand came up in a rash like nettle stings - she was fine in herself though. Should I worry about this, or would you expect it? she's not swallowing any food yet - just chewing and spitting out. Also - the strawberry seemed to give her a rash like heat rash over her neck and face - again - is this normal??

TIA

I'm definitely no expert but i'm sure i've read not to give strawberries until at least 6 months

It sounds like a reaction to both the cheese and strawberries - this is what babycentre says about strawberries/raspberries:

Strawberries and raspberries

Seed fruits can occasionally cause an allergic reaction in children. Wait until your baby is six months before giving them. Allergic reactions to these types of fruit and vegetables are usually mild, and often just affect the mouth, causing some itching or a rash where the food touches the lips and mouth. This is called oral allergy syndrome.

One of my dad's fave stories is about how my mum fed me strong cheddar as a baby and I came up with a full on rash all over my face. I've been sticking to gruyere and gouda with DS. And the strawberry thing is quite common I think coz I've read other people saying that too.

According to the BLW book by Gill Rapley, your DD will probably just avoid those foods now until she's ready for them.
