Finger foods - cucumber?

Hi there,

Hope you are enjoying the weather!

Can you please tell me when DS can have cucumber?

I would like to have some simply finger foods for him to try. We're not doing BLW, but tinkering at the moment with the idea....

He loves organix rice cakes and seems quite dextrous, so I'd like to try him on some fruit veg... don't have much in today, and so have cut some cucumber battons - but can't find anywhere when it tells you when he can have them from!

He's 7 months next week...

thanks all
Sallyp**

At 7 months he can pretty much have anything (except honey and nuts) but you might find cucumber a bit hard for him to do much with, which might be frustrating for him (it was for my dd, she loved the seedy bits though). I would give anything you've got a go.

My DS quite likes to suck on cucumber in this heat but doesn't seem to actually get any chewed as it's quite hard. Roasted veg sticks (in olive oil) are a really good place to start as they are tasty, non-slippy on the outside but soft on the inside.

Both my dds loved cucumber and still do. Very refreshing in this weather- 7 months is fine. Agree with MrsJ about the roasted veg to. Parsnip, peppers (anything really) are good finger food

Hi all

Thanks very much. DS loved the cucumber. I think he might be teething, so not only was it refreshing but seemed to be quite soothing.

I'll try the roasted veg. I love it and as you pointed out the cucumber was more sucked than chewed.
