Waking up in the evening - is this normal?

DS has just turned six months, and for last week I've been trying BLW (he turned his nose up at baby rice and porridge).

I try him with finger foods when I'm eating (had to hold the banana for him, too slippery and he was desperate to eat it) and he seems to be enjoying himself.

But he's now waking up some time between 8.30 and 9.30 every night, after three months of going to bed at eight and sleeping soundly till wakened for dream feed. Didn't feed him after lunch yesterday and day before and he didn't wake. Is the food to blame?

he still needs all his milk feeds with food as a complement. is he wanting a feed when he wakes up? might be a blip, and he will settle back down

but do not cut any milk feeds out yet, it is too soon, milk is the main source of nutrition for the first year

Hi lulu, am still offering the same number of milk feeds so don't think it's hunger - he goes back to sleep very quickly after whinging for a minute, so was wondering if it was tummy ache as his digestion adjusts.
