no, once is probably fine

you are offering tastes of food , and exploration, not 3 meals a day.. milk is still the main source of nutrition , and should be for the first year... you are not looking to cut out milk yet, but to offer tastes of food for your baby to explore and get used to the fact that there is something other than milk there to eat

offer milk, then food, in the morning, is a good time

I'm also only offering twice a day but that's more down to my laziness than any developmental reason. And she had nothing but milk for three days while her daddy and I had flu.

you know you're fretting too much don't you?

read the blog and ignore people who tell you she should be on 3 meals a day at 6 months..!

lionbeast - chill

a 6mo should only just have started weaning. Non-milk food is just a lovely edible toy. Offer her a bit of whatever you're having (within reason) and enjoy it.

Aitch's BLW blog is ace.

And be prepared for the interesting nappies. You never really now how much theyve ingested until the next day's nappies. Nectarine was interesting.

lionbeast se doesn't need food yet. She is perfectly capable of thriving on breastmilk alone.

Does she actually want food yet???

Is she paying attention to it when others eat? Does she try and grab food that is in her reach? Does she seem to actively want to eat when you feed her? and has she lost her tongue reflex? (where they push food out with their tongue as soon as it enters the mouth)

If the answer to all of those is yes then ok, she is probably wanting to start to explore foods herself. If not, she probably isn't fussed anyway!

Like lulu said have a look at Aitch's blog, a stress-free way (and the easiest lazy way!) to start feeding your baby.

It should be relatively stress-free, and actually fun!!!

first thing dd ate was a few days before she was six months and she was sitting on my lap. she made a grab for the peach i was eating and explored it in her little paws. that was a lovely and stress-free way to start weaning. you're doing brilliantly on BM, keep it up, that's the perfect nutrition for a baby. make the other food available and easy to pick up and they get the hang of supplementing their nutrition (enjoying their food )

to let her chop it?! you're not thinking of giving her the knife, are you?

Why is it that broccoli seems to come out faster than it went in, but as soon as one of my mini-cheddars comes within reach when I'm not looking it mysteriously vanishes.......
