BLW & DD is always so hungry at night..

shes 7m.. have been BLW for 2 weeks now and she is just soo hungry come bedtime/nightime - Im totally committed to not forcefeeding her purees with spoon (which is what it wouldve come to had I not discovered BLW) but shes just starving in the evenings - for example, she will take 9oz of formula at 1900 and want more so boobs out, and then wake at 2130 and want more, so I give her some boob and she gulps it and then again at 2300 she will have 7oz and at 5am she will wake in a fit of hunger.
I bought some Avent teats that have a larger hole ie flow with a thicker liquid - my instinct is telling me to add some baby rice to her nighttime feed -
but from reading previous posts rice isnt that calorific... starting to worry Im starving her..
help
thanks
xx

I should add that she takes around 5oz at 11am then again at 4pm - cant concentrate on milk feeds during day. Will happily suck pitta bread, courgette etc in the usual messy manner for lunch and tea.
Its like she starves herself all day and then tries to gorge at night.. normal behaviour I suppose?

i think it is pretty good going for her to be sleeping from 11-5, tbh, there are a lot of mums on here who'd be very envious of thow 6 straight hours. i'm not really sure how easy it is to forcefeed a baby with a spoon either, so if you do feel like using one and she's willing then i'd do that before the baby rice.
i'm not really understanding your feeding, though, are you mix feeding? is your supply good enough do you think? i've heard tiktok say that mixing can really bugger up the BM supply and certainly that's what happened to me (although mine was very fragile in any case).

If she's hungry, up the quantity and frequency of milk feeds.

BLW is supposed to be a relaxed, gentle, fun introduction to food. Milk is the main nourishment for the first 12 months or so too.

Food isnt supposed to replace anything just yet

Adding rice to bottles is a choking hazard - please don't do that.

Need to know more about your feeding pattern though, as Aitch says. Agree that 11-5 is pretty good going for a 7mo too!

re the feeding Ive pretty much stopped BF now, I only top her up when needs be and I do the early morning feed - otherwise shes on formula. Shes a great sleeper, she goes down at 8pm but its just lately that shes been waking loads and being desperate for more grub. I shall be patient and thank the lord that shes such a cherub.
