Hi there,
I’ve been weaning my son since a week before he turned 6 months. Spent the first two weeks doing the single veg approach then started to combine different veg and add different kinds of dairy e.g. cows milk with some porridge, bit of cheese with his potato. Last week I started introducing some allergens, such as egg and almond butter and this week we tried peanut butter and no reaction. But ever since the beginning of weaning his stools have really slowed down. He’s gone from pooing twice a day to almost once a week. I’ve been giving him prune juice and pear puree. Today he finally went and he was straining and when it finally started coming out he was hysterically crying. It was quite firm but I wouldn’t say it was hard.
Am I doing something wrong? Have I overloaded his gut with too much variety?
At the moment he’s on two meals a day. Breakfast which is a variation on porridge with cows milk and either I’ll add pear and carrot or almond butter.
Lunch is normally a combination of veg with a bit of grated cheese.
Should I limit the variety and go back to single tastes??
It was so horrible to see him in so much pain. I’m worried I moved too quickly.
Any help would be really really appreciated as I don’t know what to do now ....
