What's the deal with eggs and 8mo?

I have read conflicting advice saying no eggs til 9mo, yolk is fine but no whites til 12mo, and that it's all fine after 6mo. Does anyone have the definitive answer?

(DS has eczema if that matters, though when I excluded eggs from my own diet he is exclusively bf it made no difference.)

my HV said eggs were fine from 7 months, including the white big. my 8 month old has both parts of eggs, i was just cautious to make sure he didnt react badly to them as they are a high risk allergy food and for that reason if you have allergies in your family you might feel more comfortable holding off until he is 9 months.

I also read all the conflicting advice, and fed my DD well-cooked whole egg at 8mo. She had a severe allergic reaction.

Since then, our allergy specialist has said that egg shouldn't be given to any baby until 1yo, as by this age their bodies are better able to cope with any reaction.

Incidentally, he also said that having eczema (which my DD has had mildly from birth) classifies you as 'atopic'. In other words, more likely to have a food allergy.

I also excluded egg (amongst other things) whilst bf, and it made no difference.
