Just weaning my second dd and seem to have totally forgotton what i did the first time round - so just need a bit of advice. DD2 has been on solids for approx 6 wks and i just wanted to know when people started giving their babies chunks or cheese or bread to suck on. My dd is just over 6months and as yet has no teeth.
If you are giving them stuff to chew what would you recommend.
Thanks

I gave DS a nixture of purees and finger foods from the beginning (i.e. about 6 months). Is there any history of allergies? If not, toast is goos, ticks of cheese, steamed veggies (though DS never really took to these), rice cakes etc. She'll gum her way through things or just throw them away

here is a link to NHS web pages that say finger food is fine from 6 months.

Rice cakes were the first thing my dd really took an interest in - no idea why! That was at about 6.5 mths. Now 9.5 mths and she is most keen on bits of toast or bread, pieces of pear, pasta twists, bits of veggies, cubes of cheese etc. Some people offer food cut into sticks but my dd generally only goes for food cut into small pieces that she can put into her mouth whole (she has no teeth yet and I don't think she has got the hang of the idea that she can use her gums)

Right from the start, along side her more mushed up food. She always likes finger foods.

DD had no teeth until she was 13 months. Never stopped her eating anything!
