Hi...anyone got suggestions for things I can cook & freeze for a 10month old who isn't keen on being spoon fed any more. he's always fed himself some bits & peices but I want recipes for substantial meals to take the place of the jars I have been feedinng him. But I don't have time to cook him a meal or two every day of course so want to store them!

Thanks!

Recipes on www.babyledweaning.com. Lots of them mention if they're freezable. Top of my head - fish cakes - freeze well, very nutritious and filling. Also just give him what you're eating - much less faff!

We (try to) just freeze 1 or 2 extra portions of whatever we are eating for DD (10mths) since she has to take lunch to nursery. Supplemented with mini-muffins (usually banana or cheese), drop scones, potato cakes - all frozen in individual bags as/when I have time and then grabbed in the mornings to pack.

If we are at home she has pretty much whatever we are having - sandwiches - DD's favourite is garlic sausage cheese and fruit for lunch, whatever we are having for supper - for example if we are having pasta she will have the same chopped up a bit (which I feed her) plus some pasta without sauce as finger food - if more meat & veg type meal then she will have the whole lot as finger food.

Don't you cook for yourself sweetboy? No need to cook anything special for finger foods! Just offer bits of your meals.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Terramum - he does eat bits of our meals but I don't always eat when he eats & I don't always eat things that he can eat.
What I meant was things like porridge pancakes...can I make lots in one go & freeze them? So, things like fish cakes are good idea. I'm not being dim...I just wanted a few ideas!

Didn't mean to imply you were dim...just trying to understand how you look after your LO

Why not just do a cold meal for one meal meal rather than 2 hot meals? Salad or sarnies, range of veg/bread/crisps & dips, fruit salads etc...would save you a lot of time as they can be made fresh in minutes! For cooked meals that aren't totally suitable for DS I just adapt our meals so they include ingredients that he can have without the sauce etc...so vegetables are steamed & then addded to the main sauce at the last minute, taking out a portion for DS...& meat is also cooked separately at first so a portion can be put aside for him....honestly finger foods don't have to made in advance specially - that's just more work for you having to do the bulk work & then the reheated/defrosting. Even if you don't eat at the same time as your LO you can still save a portion for him of whatever you have. I am far to lazy to cook 6 meals a day when I can get away with 3

I used Finger Food when ds was this age. Pretty much all of them were freezable. DS liked almost everything I tried from the book, particularly the fishcakes.
