Tell us about your blenders

Hi, everyone,

Our Reviews Team is putting together a new reviews page for blenders for next year and they wanted to ask for Mumsnetters' wisdom on which models would be best to research, test and review.

Do you have a blender that you really rate highly? Or are there any particular features or plus points that you looked out for when buying one that you think we should include in our buyer's guide with the piece? Let us know your thoughts here.

I have a Kenwood stick blender and I use it all the time. It is fabulous for making soups and marmalade. It assembles easily and the blender bit goes in the dishwasher. It has a pulse function too.

I bought it for all the reasons above.

I have a brilliant Braun stick blender with a food processor attachment which is great for slicing and grating, as well as the usual small chopper, whisk etc. I think it's the multiquick 6 in 1.

Yes to Kenwood stick blender, great for soups and hot stuff like tomato sauce.

I also have a nutribullet which is particularly good for things like making a 'cheese' sauce with soaked cashew nuts, garlic and nutritional yeast. It totally blends whereas a stick blender leaves nutty graininess. However, stuff going into the nutribullet needs to be cold.

I also have the kenwood food processor and that's good for blending stuff if need be

The tefal blender tefal gave away last year to the cake factory reviewers.

It's a great blender for smoothies etc. It also heats so add tinned tomatoes, onions, peppers garlic etc. Then it heats and blends in one. Really velvety finish, too. You should only use cooked veg, but I use things like defrosted frozen peas and veg you can eat raw anyway with no problems.

Vitamix it's the nuts. Can make ice cream and hot soup and is easy to clean too.

I have two (or 3 depending on definitions):

1. Kitchen Aid Food Processor. Tbh I hardly ever use this any more and rely on the other 2 mainly for convenience. It's big, bulky and a PITA to clean. That said it comes into it's own when bulk cooking and has lots of attachments (such as whipping/dough hook).

1. Bamix (with the Slicesy attachment and spice grinder). Used for blending soup, making mayo. The Slicesy is a mini food processor and this has pretty much replaced the KA unless I'm doing large quantities. Used for grating cheese/veg, slicing veg/fruit, processing small quantities. Grinding whole spices in the grinder attachment. Love the fact it's so compact with a wall attachment and the different blades. I keep the Slicesy/grinder in a cupboard nearby and again they are easy to store, use and clean.

1. NutriBullet. Tbh I probably use this the most. Smoothies (and milkshakes) obviously, but my favourite use is "hidden veg". I use it to purée onions, celery/carrots and even spinach to put in recipes like bolognaise, chilli, curries etc. Adds extra bulk and nutrients to the sauces without fussy eaters being able to detect it's even there. Tbh I'd have loved this had it been around when the children were small. Making baby food in it would be easy.

It is also great at making Yorkshire Pudding batter (or any batter) and comes with different lids (inc one that pours) that means it's easy to pour the batter into a tin/pan etc.

If I could have only one I'd probably choose the Bamix simply because it can do everything on a day to day basis the other 2 can do (albeit in smaller quantities) but I admit I'd really miss the NutriBullet.

I have an Omniblend V and it's brilliant. Similar to a vitamix, but not quite as powerful. However it is half the price and blends everything super smooth.

Vitamix. Bloody pricey but worth it.

The thermamix. It blends to such a fine consistency that it can mill flours from pulses, make butters from nuts, soups, frozen fruits to sorbets, ice to super slushie cocktails. The best kitchen gadget ever.

Thermomix. It is the crazed, midlife crisis Ferrari of the blender world. I love mine.

Picklemepopcorn I was just coming on to recommend the Tefal giveaway one! It's the only kitchen 'gadget' I can honestly say I use everyday. Blitzes fruit and veg to within an inch of their life, heats up to make soup (I cook big batches of chopped veg and freeze them, ready to add stock and blend for fresh soup whenever I want it!). It's the gadget that always impresses guests and my mum and sister always find an excuse to have a turn when they're here.

Nutri-bullet food processor. Great for smoothies and cocktails with 2 different-sized cups; a chopping and slicing bowl, which also has a dough hook. and a large blending jug, which I haven't used yet but planning on some nice soups for winter.

I have a Vitamix. It's amazing. Will pretty much blend anything to smooth. You can make soup it in, crush ice, and ice cream from frozen bananas. It's also v easy to clean.

I clicked on this thinking it said "Tell us about your benders" and everyone was going to share their stories of their big drinking sessions. I actually feel I've accidentally learned a lot on blenders now, so that's something.

I have a Lakeland stick blender with mini chopper and other gadgets. I use the stick blender once or twice a week for sauces and soups. It isn't as good as previous Braun stick blenders and although the mini chopper is occasionally useful it is a bit flimsy, I've never used the larger blender attachment.i have a Brain food processor that I chiefly use for Cole slaw , pastry or other chopped veg requirements. I use it about once a fortnight. It is ok but not nearly as sturdy as my previous food processor which was a magimix. It had various attachments that were not very effective and I don't use. I have recently inherited a Kenwood which I have not yet used. I use a coffee grinder for spices .I wouldn't be without a stick blender but haven't yet found the affordable holy grail of food processing and would love a dough hook in the mix somewhere.

I have a basic stick bLender. Think it was £4.99 in Argos. Does the job.

I've broken a Kenwood and a Bosch stick blender making smoothies so now I have a giant ninja contraption and it's amazing!

giant nutri ninja. As good as my friends vitamix. Differences are it's a plastic not glass jug/bowl and I suspect the engine won't last as long, but it's a third of the price!

Use this more now as not cooking for so many and easier to get in dishwasher
3 Braun stick minipimer thing
20 years old. Great for soups etc
4nutribullet I don't use it for smoothies but great for Indian food. Finely grated onion and chilli/ginger/garlic mixes and liquidising tomatoes

I have the Bamix hand blender. classic version. Not cheap, but strong as an ox. Blends everything I need it to. Would probably blend concrete too!

I have a Braun hand blender (stick) but it has gone MIA 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a Von chef food processor with blender jug. It's bloody brilliant. It even has a drawer in the bottom for the extra blade attachments. I'm all for multipurpose kitchen tools.
