Arghh I’ve just chucked the slow cooker on for tonight’s tea and have only just thought about the fact there’s honey in it.
DS2 is almost 11 months, there’s only a tablespoon in the whole dish (would serve 4 adults) and it’s going to be soo cooked for 7 hours.
Ok to give to ds or not?

It will be fine.

Is it a processed honey like Rowse or one from a small scale local producer? I was told supermarket honey is fine, it’s vanishingly rare for anyone to get ill from pasteurised honey.

Once heated it’s totally fine, maybe worth a quick blast at a high heat at the end to make sure.

Normal thorough cooking (pasteurisation: 70°C 2min or equivalent) will kill Cl.botulinum bacteria but not its spores. To kill the spores of Cl.botulinum a sterilisation process equivalent to 121°C for 3 min is required. The botulinum toxin itself is inactivated (denatured) rapidly at temperatures greater than 80°C
