Breakfast ideas for a 7 month old

DD is now eating well, mix of BLW and purees (usually on bread/rice cakes) but some from spoon.

Struggling with breakfast a bit - she will eat fruit puree & yoghurt + toast, also AK's two porridge recipes. But refuses baby muesli (la familia), weetabix, or ready brek (have tried adding her favourite fruit purees) - Would like a quick breakfast solution for some busy days.

Went on holiday last week and realised she now hates all ready made foods. Great after all she seemed to want to eat was Ella's kitchen purees and mine went down the sink but it is all rather labour intensive.

We do eggy things you can prepare the night before - boiled egg or if you've got the oven on for tea, beat up an egg with a little milk and pepper, put it in a little dish (buttered) bake for about 20 mins about gas 5 or 6 and it rises like a little souffle. You can do this for a few seconds in the microwave instead but the line between 'raw in the middle' and 'leathery hard' is a fine one... You can also do eggy bread (french toast) ahead of time. I also bake and freeze biscuits and he often has one of those for breakfast with some milk or yoghurt. Oh and mine loves baked beans, even cold straight from the tin (well, not literally because of the sharp edges!), so he sometimes has those for breakfast (DP thinks this is weird but we often had baked beans on toast for breakfast when I was a nipper). Mine also loves oatcakes, so oatcakes spread with anything - butter, Philly, fruit puree, jam etc. Or cheese (be continental!). Or dried fruit (think of those posh hotels where you get a bowl full of dried fruit salad) Crazy Jack do unsulphered soft dried apricots which my LO (10ms) can manage on his own now. Or cold sausages.

ooh you've got me all inspired

poor dd often had leftovers from teh night before for breakfast... but also porridge, have you tried that? just plain oats and milk and whack it in the microwave. to serve as finger food (recipe on blog) don't stir it and make the mixture thick, or just make normal porridge and spoon feed or hand over the spoon. ready brek is not as nice-tasting imo.

Worried about giving egg at 7 months - thought it was best to leave it later due to potential allergy but would be very handy to give her as I like eggs so can scrambled eggs for the both of us.

Tried normal porridge, she doesn't like it without the added dried fruits of the AK recipes so I might as well batch cook those. Back to the blender tonight...

My DS is 7.5 months, these are some of the things I have given him for brekkie aside from just plain fruits:

  • banana on toast
  • milk soaked shreddies
  • pancakes
  • weetabix
  • porridge
  • bagels (cinnamon and raison are nice!)

will also be trying eggbread soon. He had scrambled egg for the first time today and it went down a treat.
