My 10 mo doesn’t eat much. I’m worried he’s looking less chubby and getting him weighed tmrw. He doesn’t drink at night but I don’t think his solid intake is enough

Can I ask for example if your 10 mo has weetabix for brekkie - what’s the portion size?
Or egg omelette-how many eggs?
Yoghurt - one of the only things he’s likes. How many grams?

I’ve no idea if he’s eating enough but I really don’t think he is!

My 10 month old hardly ate anything. I just topped her off with milk while I waited. She eventually got the hang of it but just wasn't interested for AGES.

How did you get on at the clinic @Tryingno1?

Could he just be less chubby because he’s on the move more?

As for portion sizes, I was always told it’s about the size of their palm, so if he’s eating more than that, he’s doing well Smile

Aw thanks for asking jilted. He is crawling loads and hyper these days!!! He’s gone from 50th to 25th centile but then he’s always been on the 25th his whole little life except for that one reading last time so trying not to worry!
Today was a bad day intake wise! Trying to reduce my own expectations! But I’m sure 1/4 of a weetabix with 1/2 apricot is not enough Confused

It’s really good that he’s got plenty of energy. Was the 1/4 of a weetabix and a half an apricot over the whole day?

Sounds very normal, try not to stress! Just keep offering a variety of foods regularly and he will get the hang of it. The portion size for a 10 month old is teeny. It really is!

My one year on dd, who is on the 75th centile (always has been) sometimes appears to exist on air.

No that was brekkie..some good days he will have half a weetabix.

Then lunch we were out and he refused my home made pasta and peas cheesy mix made with lots of love but had 1/2 Ella pouch

Then dinner he had half an egg omlete with cheese and a few rasberries

He’s having 3 bottles
I dropped the afternoon one in an attempt to encourage a good tea but some days he absolutely refuses tea (it’s his least fav for some reason!) and I bring the bedtime bottle earlier as he’s then obv starving by 5/6.....

I'd describe my 11 month as a really good eater. Today she had:
7oz bottle of whole milk
Slice of fruit loaf (ate half) and half a banana
Potato from half a jacket mashed with spinach and cheese, a cherry tomato
6oz bottle
7-8 pieces of penne pasta in tomato sauce, fromage frais, other half a banana
7 oz bottle

1/4 weetabix, half an apricot, half a pouch, half an egg, cheese and raspberries and 3 bottles actually sounds fine to me though.

From what you’ve said so far, he’s bright and alert at times, he’s track8ng his centiles, he’s eating and he’s energetic in the day and he’s sleeping at night.

I’m not sure why you’re worried? Smile

I agree with mind, I think that amount of food sounds fine. I suppose you could re-try his dinner a bit later if he's refused it earlier. I've found a tendency among some parents to talk at length about all of the food their little one has, 'he has 4 weetabix and a banana! A massive bowl of stew and mash! 5 fish fingers!' Their stomachs are still quite small at this age. If he's lively, happy and there aren't any concerns about his weight I'd just keep doing what you're doing.

Thanks mindchilder! I think the amount of time it takes and the effort I go to to get that into him makes it seem less than it is! If that makes sense
If I left food to him (and let him get on with it like I did with the omelette today) not more than 2 mouthfuls would get eaten as I try every time in the hope he would eat! So meal times involve a lot of fake smiling from me, a lot of well dones, a lot of singing and encouraging. And I’m knackered at the end of every meal emotionally!
But yes writing it all down makes it look like more than it is! And I Forgot he had 1/4 banana too while we walked to town (he seems to enjoy eating when he’s playing or we are out and about prob as he’s distracted I don’t do it often but sometimes if we are out I give him the odd snack this way)

Yes indubious all my Nct babies eat
10 weetabix and 15 slices of toast and obv sleep all night and nap perfectly Grin
I ignore them all!!! But still makes me wonder when I find each meal fine so long and draining :/

Maybe try taking the stress out and just get on with eating your meal? Offer him a bite of yours occasionally? DD likes to offer me some of hers too.

My 11 month old (very nearly 1 year old) is a terrible eater. Whilst it’s natural to worry, I don’t think it’s that unusual and I guess we have to be positive that they’ll get the hang of it in time.
I spoke to my health visitor about it last week and they had some reassuring advice. I’ve also given him a couple of meals in front of the tv this week (which is probably setting me up for a terrible problem in the future!) which has got us over the hurdle of him even refusing to put something in his mouth - with the tv on he’s actually attempted to eat things which is a massive achievement

Oh please start ignoring other people, they lie! Smile. Rea.ly though, as everyone has said, he’s doing fine.

Also, stop all of the smiling and entertaining, you e got to trust him more. Give him the omelette in strips and let him eat it, he really won’t starve himself.

If he likes eating in the pushchair, have you tried one of the snackpots?

Really though, you don’t have any problems, just relax and enjoy your food as a family Thanks

My 10 month old loves his food. Here's what he had yesterday.

3 tablespoons of baby muesli with milk and a few rounds of chopped banana.

Lunch was about 4 tablespoon of chicken and pasta.

Dinner was about half a piece of cheese on toast and a small yoghurt.

He drank 20oz of formula.

I haven't had him weighed since he was 8 weeks old but fwiw he is starting to look longer and leaner since he started crawling.
