Switching to cows milk at 12 months

My twins are 11 months old and currently have a bottle of formula first thing in the morning, late afternoon and before bedtime (also sometimes still during the night which I'm hoping is phasing out now yawn). I'm planning on weaning them off the late afternoon bottle so they are down to just 2 a day by the time they are one year old. My question is, how do I then transition them to cows milk? Do I literally just swap to it on the day they turn one, or should it be phased in gradually?

Thank you

I just swapped, when each child was 1. I eeked out the last tub of formula so that he had formula at nursery and cow’s milk at home. With dd, I just swapped.

So, When they reached one used up the formula I had left over alongside the cow milk for a few days. I switched out the day feed first (it felt easier). It was absolutely fine, no drama, instantly liked it.
If they are already having lots of dairy in their diet I would hope that you have no problems. Good luck! (I don’t stick to two bottles, sometimes two but with teething, grumpyness or an early wake up I can be up to four bottles! Blush)

Formula is based on cow’s milk.if there was a problem with dairy allergies, it would have become apparent by now.

Good point on the allergies - they’ve been having dairy for months with no issue so I guess we’d know by know if there was an allergy. I’m looking forward to ridding my kitchen of the sterilising/bottle making paraphernalia - and not having to spend loads on formula! 😃

If they're crawling and licking the floor/toys then I'd probably stop sterilising anyway.
