Hello
Should probably be looking in a manual but thought id torment you guys for facts instead

My little girl is 9 months old and she has 4 bottles of 180 a day plus breakfast, dinner and tea. Iv dropped a bottle but just wandered when I should drop another or all of them if i even do that. God im a terrible mum!!!

Thanks in advance for teaching me how to be a good parent.

Mine's 9 months old, and she's getting:

2/3 bottle when she gets up with the rest of the formula made into cereal after I've had my breakfast
savoury and sweet puree with lumps for lunch
bottle mid afternoon
tea like lunch
bottle before bed

I also give her water or diluted juice with lunch and tea, and offer water between meals. At some point in the day she will have some veg sticks or a rice cake to chomp on.

I'm thnking of dropping the bedtime bottle as she will settle without it happily.

Hiya,

My DS is also 9 months old. He has 6oz first thing, 6oz at 3pm and 8oz to go to bed with. Sorry, I don't know what that is in mls. At this age they should be having 20oz per day including milk used in cooking/cereal etc.

I dropped the lunchtime milk once he was eating well at that time with some protein. You could try dropping that one and giving water or well diluted juice with lunch. I wouldn't drop any more for a while.

I've also started to give his 3pm feed from a beaker now.

You are not a terrible mum! I'm just an incredibly anal mum who reads lots and lots of the manuals!

Thanks for the quick response. I used to hang around with the girls from antenatel classes so if I had any questions id ask them but I have just moved to somerset and dont know anyone.

My mum keeps saying to drop the milk but it just didnt seem right.

Bristols - I just looked and 6oz is 180 so at least im on the right track.

Roskva - thats a good idea about veg sticks, that could help me knock a bottle off.

So if i knock a bottle off, up one of the volumes of the other bottles and give her some veg finger sticks then that should do the trick.

Thank you loads, its been really playing on my mind

i reall wouldn't go knocking bottles off, milk is their main source of nutrition until they're one so ideally you're best to wait until they drop the bottles themselves.

hmmmm now im confused as what to do! thanks for clarifying the main source of nutrition to me, i thought id read that but my mum made me doubt myself.

i suppose Ella will lead me, she usually does. she knows what she wants for a 9 month old.

I just hope im not overfeeding her. she loves her food.

I left my partner in charge for the morning the other day to find out that he'd given her 3 weetabix and she had eaten every last drop. i haved put him right now.

Men hey!

that does sound like a lot of weetabix, perhaps if she was still hungry some fruit might have been better... however you're right in saying that the baby will lead, given the opportunity. don't be in too much of a hurry to cut back on milk, really. congratulations on having such a good eater, she sounds lovely.

I just had a quick look and it looks good.

I cant cook so this site will come in really handy. Its not only the cooking part i find hard but knowing what to cook, give to her so this really will be useful.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. Im a newbie to this site and i can see why its so populer.

I continued to give dd bottles after puree but as she started eating more puree, she took less and less from the bottle, so after a couple of weeks I stopped giving it to her. If she's thirsty she'll drink water, if not she'll grab the cup and turn it upside down.
