As the weather is starting to warm up (hopefully) Wink I was worried my 6 month old daughter my get dehydrated in between feeds. I spoke to the health visitor at the clinic and she said cooled boiled water is fine for her to have or the baby spring waters with a hint of juice is ok too. Has anyone else tried their little ones on the Heinz or Hipp organic juice & water? X

I think your HV hasn’t given you the correct information here sorry OP, well not if you are in the UK anyway. There’s no need to boil water after 6 months and juice may be given undiluted with meals, diluting it with tap water is also fine.

If she’s BF she won’t dehydrate as long as you feed on demand anyway but whichever way you feed her, it’s fine to offer tap water with food from 6 months.

Have you thought about offering some high water foods in warm weather too? Things like brocolli, homemade ice lollies, melon, soup and jelly are all good although probably not altogether Grin

The official NHS guidelines are here.

Do you live in the uk?
It's perfectly safe to give her plain tap water here.
Or even just normal bottled water if the tap water isn't great where you are.

Don’t give juice for goodness sake! They don’t need it, water alone is fine. After 6 months they can have tap water. Give in a cup rather than a bottle as from 6 months onwards you should start to wean off bottles.

Tap water in a cup is fine from 6 months. Only need to boil water for making formula. I wouldn't give juices at all.

Really no need to fine juice - mine are 19 months and happily drink water because they’ve never had juice or squash!

Sorry just to be clear, although the NHS say that you can give undiluted juice with meals from 6 months, I didn’t until they were much older as I wanted them to like drinking water. They both still drink plenty of water now as children.
