Plant based foods and weaning

Hello,

First post ever.. so hello!!!

Since our DS is showing all the signs of being interested in food we are at the beginning of the weaning journey. We are quite excited really and have be doing lots of reading. We have decided on a combination of approaches (BLW and traditional).

I have recently watched a few programs on Netflx about plant based foods and I can see quite a few new plant based products in the supermarket. It seems a healthy approach to a diet so I am considering reducing the amount of meat that I eat.

However, would it be a good idea to have the same approach to weaning my DS and beyond. Have anyone had a plant based approach to weaning and feeding?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Well most people start with fruit and vegetables whatever style of weaning they choose to do.

I'm guessing that's probably not what you mean by a plant based diet though... is that fancy name for some type of vegan?

from what I understand "plant based" is more about reducing the amount of meat and dairy that you eat and drink since plant based alternatives are considered more sustainable.

For example Soya milk, almond milk etc. Not really exclusively vegan though...

DS won't eat any meat except fish anyway!

Almond milk is fine as an ingredient but not as a main drink. If you're bf then carry on with that; if you're ff then you're better moving to cow's milk, I think. There have been some concerns raised about soya milk for infants but I haven't researched it thoroughly myself as I never considered using it.
