My DD is getting rather sick of her baby cereals. What non baby cereal would you ladies recommend? Rice cripies etc ok or not?

Ds2 is eating rice krispies every day and has been for months - he's 9 months now. he doesn't like weetabix, but yours might.

yes normal cereal fine from 6mo
avoid added sugar ones though
and read packets for least salty options

mini shredded wheat, porridge, ready brek, Value rice krispies (no salt), weetabix etc.

If you have a Sainsbury's near you they do an own brand 100% wholewheat sugar puff type cereal, only with no sugar IYSWIM.
DD loves it and I carry a pot round for her to crunch as a snack.
She also likes bitesize shredded wheat, either plain or with raisins, as they are easy to pick up.

Rice Crispies do have a lot of sugar and other added stuff in so I save them for me

(NB remember to wipe weetabix off highchair etc while still soggy - sets like concrete once dry)

dd is 11 months. her favourite is mini raisin wheats. she also likes rice krispies. both are good for self feeding.

RN just out of interest - do you give dd a bowl to self feed from or put directly in front on tray/table? i know if i gave 10 mth dd a bowl it would end up chewed minus contents, then thrown on floor

I put dd's in a bowl, about halfway through she tips it onto the tray, chucks it at me and then carries on...she's a very odd child

ah I shouldn't worry, J likes to dip everything in his yoghurt - and I mean everything incl strips of chicken/pork etc. I figure he's eating why worry!
