yes friend always says they are best to have 1/4 pint milk in each one so if your child is not a very good milk drinker there is some of the quota they need in just one yoghurt

'What is the sugar content of Petits Filous?

Petits Filous contains the sugars naturally occurring in the real fruit purée (fructose and glucose) and in the fromage frais (lactose). A controlled amount of glucose syrup is also included as part of the recipe to achieve that delicious Petits Filous taste.'

from FAQs... pmsl

I went for Wildlife yoghurts because at least with them sugar is listed after fruit.
Think they're all pretty similar, but PF are aimed at babies which does infuriate me

i don't buy the standard "kids" yoghurts - they're all full of sugar! i've started buying Rachel's organic yog which contain apple juice to sweeten them ( and are really yummy)or buy plain yog and add pureed fruit eg dried apricots or mango. it's pretty outrageous i agree

Am with you DCB. I get Rachels Greek yogurt & add grated or pureed fruit. DS loves it. Sometimes I make a smoothie of different fruits with a blob of Greek Yoghurt on top.

yes i do tell all my friends who haven't started weaning to avoid petit filous.
the problem is once mine had them, they refuse any others. must be the gum

my dd has been having them since she was small cos i thought they were one of the better ones. never again. i think the next yoghurts i buuy for her will be the "natural" ones.

They are all full of shit, these things aimed at kids (and most adult yoghurts too.)
Buy a 500g pot of live natural stuff from Netto for less than a quid..

I do wonder if the dramatic increase in childhood Type 1 diabetes may in some way be connected to the prevalence of these very sweet foods which are promoted for weaning. I had exactly the same experience as Fransmom - I had thought PF were good stuff and started using them as a weaning food - until I realised how sugary they are. DS really loves greek yogurt with fresh fruit, and if I weaken and give him fruit yogs, I prefer Yeo Valley or Rachels.

Look at ingredients of so called healthy adult yoghurts too, like Activa. Full of crap.

As have explained before, good rule of thumb with food is to ask 'Has someone buggered about a lot with this?' If so,put it bCK AND STEP AWAY.

Has the plain fromage frais got anything in?

I'm afraid I bought some fromage frais tubes this week (for my 3 year old, not for weaning). I can resist any sort of promotional flim-flam except a picture of David Tennent on the packet .

I have those! Not for DS though, just for DH and I.

I was going to say something about David Tennant and sucking but however I said it it came out sounding dirty

DS has Rachel's Little Ones yoghurts.

I gave DS greek yoghurt with mashed up strawberries and banana yesterday - he loved it!! He used to have Petit Filous until I realised what a sugar fest they are - cue massive guilt trip on my part!

Going to be even braver tmw and try him on scrambled egg with baked beans...wish me luck!!

are you rolling your eyes over the fact that people are giving their children natural yoghurt rather than petit filous, skribble? christ almighty... it's hardly excessively lentil-weaverish. [rolls eyes right back]
