Can I give my baby these...?

Sounds silly but not quite sure if he can have these:
Smoked mackerel (to make pate for crackers/toast)
Tinned mackerel
Prawns

He's 10 months old, no allergies (so far), etc. Loves fish so would like to try the following but not sure about shellfish, etc.

Thanks.

I think shellfish you have to wait til over a year the same as honey? To do with high risk on anaphylaxis. I'm not totally sure though

I'm sure tinned fish is fine though x

I would be wary of smoked fish due to salt

My 11 month old has had smoked mackerel and tinned before. Not tried prawns yet but no reason for it!

All of these are absolutely fine although as pointed out, smoked fish needs to be in moderation due to salt content Smile

Shellfish is fine - in fact the current advice is to introduce potential allergens early as it can help prevent allergies from developing.

As others have said, check salt. I think it's recommended no more than 1g of salt per day for under ones.

My LO has had prawns (over well cooked) but not smoked fish due to the salt content. I have considered giving her fish pie made with salmon, prawns and smoked mackerel mind you, but haven't done it yet, just separate hers before adding the smoked fish. She LOVES fish.
