My son only seems to like sweet fruit purees and won't eat any savory ones. he did eat some at first but maybe because i let him have too many sweet ones he just got a taste for them. has anyone else had this problem and do they know if it will go away on its own as he gets older?

It's not uncommon. Have you tried mixing the sweet fruit ones with the cereal ones, like baby rice or porridge???

Have you tried him on savoury ones which also have a sweet taste? Eg butternut squash, swede, parsnip? Is he old enough for cheese based purees, cheesy veg is always good.

how old is he? maybe try not pureeing the veg or the meat? just hand it over as it is, cooked of course.

he's only six months he's had bits from around 5 months he had one of those organic purees which was califlower cheese which he didn't like much but did manage a little bit.

Keep trying but don't make an issue of it. He'll get used to more savoury things after a while. As the others have said, offer the sweetest veg first, and after a few weeks then you could try adding meat or cheese with them. I would get him used to the veg on it's own first.

Sweet potato is brilliant. Also what about avocado mashed with banana? Then gradually decrease the amount of banana.

dont give up

He can only eat what you offer him so I would be inclined to mix savoury with sweet as has already been suggested and reduce the sweet.

My neighbour's son (who is now in his 40s) would eat absoulutely anything so long as she sprinkled a little bit of sugar on it first. Just a tiny bit and he would tuck in. I'm not recommending this, it just made me laugh when she told me she even had to put a bit on his Sunday lunch!

those plumbaby purees (yes the expensive ones!) mix veg, quinoa and fruit to very tasty effect - my fruitbat baby has always loved them. IME sweettooths are generally a fact of life, they don't go away you just learn to manage them.

My dd2 has a sweet tooth but likes meat and fruit combos. Try chicken or lamb with dried apricots or chicken with mango.
