Weaning is going well we do a mix of purée and finger foods. DS takes vet little milk in the day now so I think he's ready for mid morning/ afternoon snacks.

I'm a bit stuck for ideas of what's enough for a snack? Is a bit of fruit, rice cake, breadstick enough? And do I offer bf afterctge snack too initially???

They don't really need much at this age but I used to reckon a portion was about the size of their palm.

How about things like strips of omelette, grapes cut lengthways, these mini muffins, Cheese Straws, hummus and veg sticks, homemade lolly, Scottish oatcake with hummus.

At this age, the NHS recommend offering solids 3 times a day at the most though and it's also recommended to bf roughly an hour before offering solids. Is he feeding much in the night?

That doesn't surprise me at all Smile

Didn't mean any criticism btw. Was just wondering about the night feeds as, if he's still waking for lots of feeds, you may find it easier to cut back on the solids and bf more in the day. It might feel like a step backwards but he needs Bfing far more than he needs snacks at this age Smile

None taken- He's not too bad in the night unless poorly or teething when I give a bit more milk as I know it's good for him. There's so much conflicting advice isn't there! Not sure what to do now, when would you think is the right time to introduce snacks?

I'd leave it until he's about 10 months if you can Smile
