When to give up bottles?

Hi

This is my first post and new to this so apologies if I have done it wrong -
I just need some advice as my LO is 11 months old and has 2x 8oz bottles of formula a day -first thing in morning and before bed.
I am going to slowly wean him off formula and fully onto cows milk over next month but was just wondering if I should be doing this in a sippy cup instead of a baby bottle?

He takes juice and water from his sippy cup throughout the day no problem but it didn't occur to me that I should be taking him off baby bottles at such a young age until I read stuff online today and now I'm at a bit of a loss Hmm

Any advice would be great

Thanks x

I introduced cow's milk for my DS at 11 months (only used it in his porridge before that).
He was on the bottle till he was a year old and started drinking milk from the beaker just around 13 months.
I introduced everything slowly so that nothing was overwhelming for him. Let your child guide you, you'll know when they're ready for the change. If he's already drinking juice from the beaker and is comfortable with it, no harm trying the next step.

We ditched bottles completely at 11 months with DD2, all milk was in a cup from then on. This was mainly because we had a struggle to wean DD1 off bottles at 20 months so I wanted to avoid that issue again by stopping them when DD2 wasn't too attached! Really glad we did.

As a nanny I try to transition from he bottle from 9 months (to a sippy cup) by a year we are on a small cup of milk at breakfast and a big cup of milk at bedtime by 12/13 months.

I think extended use of bottles isn't good for oral/dental development and it's recommended that you stop using bottles around the 1 year mark.

Mine very happily switched from bottles to sippy cups without any protest (and was equally happy to switch to cows milk at the same time). Whereas I know some parents really struggle to get their babies to transition - depends on the baby! It's worth a try with a sippy cup, you may well find it's an easy transition.

I'm in the same boat, although DD is 12 months in a week. I've just switched her to cows milk (formula box ran out so just straight swap) and she's not battered an eyelid. The switching to cups from bottles has been harder, she drinks water great from sippy cups in the day but offering milk in them in the morning she has just rejected them. I'm going to keep trying though and then once she's better with her morning milk, I'll work on the bedtime milk. Yes I want to stop the bottles as soon as possible, but equally I don't want to make it a big battle.
