6 Month Old Spoon Trouble

I have a 6 month old DS3, just starting to wean with puree's he has finger food as well that he loves to play with/suck

He wont let me spoon feed him (Mouth closes) he will happily open his mouth wide when I give him the spoon....

Is that normal? Can I encourage him at all to let me feed him?

A lot of my friends babies are like this.

Have you looked into baby led weaning. Basically you just give finger food and adult normal food.

I will look into it, does it mean just whatever we are eating (without salt)

You just put their food in front of them and let them get on with it. It can be messy.

Some babies like being spoon fed, some don't. DD did not like feeding herself at all and preferred me using a spoon (we did skip purees though)

My DD is the same. Won't let a spoon anywhere near her. If she accidently does let me feed her more often than not food is dribbled out.

I must say I'm finding BLW messy and wasteful, spoon feeding herself doesn't work (too young to have dexterity yet) and finger foods get sucked then banged on the highchair and thrown on the floor. After a couple of mins DD has had enough and so have I

It wasn't what I expected from weaning tbh but hoping things will improve in time, babies this age still get everything from milk etc.

I've had the same problem with my 8 month old, except he refuses to eat full stop. I give him the bowl and spoon and he just bangs them around until the food falls out!
