So 6 months, weaning going ok. Shes eating an ice cube size bit of wheatabix with whole milk for breakfast, finger foods of veg plus ice cube size fruit puree for lunch and same for dinner. Having a bit of a wobble that shes not having a "meal" as such i.e. spaghetti bolegnaise etc. She will suck and lick the finger foods but only actually consumes the spoon fed puree.. should i be pureeing some of my food so shes getting used to meal flavours/giving as finger food or am i ok to carry on with veg sticks for now?

I wouldn't worry too much. For 6 months she's having a lot of solids already. The NHS current guidelines are to move to 3 meals a day (i.e. offering solids 3 times a day) between 8 and 9 months.

Why are you having a wobble over her not eating spaghetti Bol?

I dont know theres just not much meal type food going in just raw/steamed veg - think i was overthinking! Ta for the reply. In fairness she only eats thw ice cube of puree and plays with the rest. Breakfast is the most unsuccessful too!

How would you feel about giving her something like slag Bol to play with and throw try? You could put her in a long sleeved bid, put a shower curtain on the floor and duck and just let her get on with it while you eat yours.

You don't have to worry if she doesn't eat any. At this age it's more about exploring tastes and textures. Her milk should be filling her up Smile

Yeah I'd knock plain veg purée on the head and just go with some meal based ones - at 6 months they can have what you have as long as you avoid choking hazards, lots of salt and honey.

Id be perfectly happy to give her what i have its all home cooked food and suitable but we have a lot of stew type dishes and im not sure how id go about that without spoon feeding! I think im probs being quite dense here... my main worry is things like cuts of meat because ahe has no teeth. Does that matter?

Teeth don't matter at all. Could you drain off some of the liquid from the stew and let her grab the chunks? Or just give her some bread to dip in and then hose her down? Grin

At 6 months DD loved scrambled eggs, toast with cream cheese, cereal with full fat milk, grated cheese, fine grated carrot, hummus on toast, home made chips to gum to oblivion, yoghurt (gave her a spoon but she loved "scooping" it with her fingers into her mouth😂)

I miss BLW was so much fun

Poached fish, tuna on toast (like an open sandwich), couscous, bulgar wheat etc im just going through the diary I kept for her at the time

Mashed swede and carrot, if we had a stew then I'd mash up some of the veg a bit and the juice as gravy.
