Timing of meals/milk?

I'm trying to figure out how best to start with solids. I see advice to give milk feeds first and solids maybe an hour after. Trouble is that this is usually when she's tired/grumpy and due a nap. But perhaps if I give solids nearer the milk feed she won't be hungry enough to try much. Probably I'm over thinking it though. What works for you?

Hi, I think the advice about giving milk first is to ensure baby is not over-hungry as it's then more difficult to tempt them with solids when all they want is their normal feed. I understood the theory behind it but when I started I was going to be met with the same issue you're having with timings.

So scrapped that and gave DS solids first, milk after. Initially he only took a teaspoon or 2, then gave him his usually milk feed. Month and half on and (other than first thing in the morning), he happily goes into the highchair for solids first - feed him up as much as he wants and then a milk feed as top up.

If you get your LO and they're upset then maybe initially give milk feed and introduce solids on a 'just for fun' basis, you don't need set meal times for them yet, so long as you can get tastes in. Good luck x
