BLW baby now wants to be spoon fed

DD is 13 months. BLW since 6 months. Happy eater. Recently, we introduced a fork. She won't spear her food yet but will eat off it preloaded.

So. More and more she asks for her food to be presented on fork or spoon. (Well asks = points and yells). Today she refused to touch anything unless she was fed it! All foods she knows and likes.

I know it's not really a problem as she's still eating but it feels a bit weird for me to spoon or fork feed after all this time.

Has anyone else experienced this?

No. Although the BLW is a new concept to me as mine are adults. However I'm a nanny and do a bit of both (as do parents) and some days are hit and miss. Maybe just a phase. I'd be inclined to leave utensils with food and let baby get on with it X

I'd give her a spoon and let her have a shot at feeding herself with it.

BLW = Baby Led Weaning. Your DD is leading here - she is showing a preference for being fed with a spoon. I don't see a problem.

My DS did exactly this. I think he figured I could shovel in the food more quickly than he could.

I always eat with him so I carried on eating my food, feeding him a bit when it suited me. He soon got impatient and fed himself again! One of the reasons we went for BLW was so that DH and I could still eat our own meals, without having to stop and feed DS.

He's nearly 3 now. Great eater and very proficient with cutlery.

Thanks all. Helpful to hear that she's not just regressing to a 6 month old and there's light ahead LetThere as I am also in the lazy camp!
