What has your 7/8mo eaten today?

DS has only had a blueberry rice cake earlier this afternoon, and chilli for tea. Last few days he has had bolognese for tea and usually has dry Cheerios and fingers of apple or banana for breakfast. But stuck in a rut!

When should he be having 3 meals a day? He's never had lunch. He gobbles down bolognese which I spoon feed to him. If you are doing BLW, how do you feed things like bolognese? They just eat it with their hands?

We are doing some spoon feeding, some finger foods, e.g. while away over Xmas he was spoonfed lots of pouches but also demolished Xmas dinner just feeding himself with his hands. No idea if that's BLW or not. DS loves everything!

Need more finger food ideas - this weaning lark is a whole other level of organisation!!

I've been giving my 8 month old jacket potato (which I cut into wedges). She LOVES French bread, I made some French bread pizza the other day by popping some tomato purée on it with some veg (mushroom, pepper, sweet corn, cherry tomato) and some grated cheese then under the grill for a min or two which she loved

Ooh nice idea! Yes DS loves bread and it keeps him quiet for a while as takes a while to eat haha :) so that idea may be a go-er.

I also made some pasta sauce last week with basically every veg I had in the fridge (leek, onion, mushroom, pepper, tinned tomato, courgette) and I froze it in small weaning pots so I can do the same again but with the knowledge she's getting more veg into her!

For breakfast she absolutely loves the weetabix minis, and I've also found very small weaning size pots of ambrosia custard and rice pudding which she likes as well

My 8 mo has 3 meals a day though his appetite varies depending on how much milk he drinks (he bf on demand) . He is dairy intolerant though so his diet doesn't include that. ...we are mostly blw but do spoonfeed some things

Some ideas for Breakfast: porridge /weetabix/toast with jam or peanut butter, fried egg and grilled tomato

Lunch:pitta with hummus/ avocado/omelette /fishfingers/roast chicken meat

Dinner: what we have...chilli con carne w rice/ roast veg /tagliatelle pretty much anything really!

Today my just turned 8month old ate:

Breakfast: pancake and banana

Lunch: quarter of a Philly cheese sandwich, some cheese, a couple of slices of Apple

Dinner: Peri peri chicken, avo, cheese, tomato and a bit of tortilla wrap

Snacks: mini gingerbread man, breadstick, raisins, chocolate ice cream...all fed to her by her sister 😐

I've just given her 3 meals from starting solids, some days she eats more than others. And we do BLW because I'm lazy and she refuses spoons. She breast feeds on demand still, usually 4 or 5 feeds a day.

Scotinez, how do you feed Apple? Do you cook it first or literally just chop and give it?

I just cut it into wedges and give it to her. Keeps her busy for a while 😀

I did watch her munching on a whole apple one day that my toddler was holding for her. Probably not idea though 😕

Cool thanks for the ideas! I need to get baby food stuff in. I am doing slimming world so don't have full fat cheese etc in.

That's funny, I do spoon feeding as I'm lazy too - when it comes to clean up! But then I never purée stuff, only spoon feed stuff that is slimy so will fall on the floor, eg banana, so just break it up a bit with the spoon, or yoghurt etc. I do have to load up the spoon though, he hasn't got the hang of that yet!

My 8 month old had porridge for breakfast, then half a fishcake and some cheese for lunch. Dinner was about 4pm and was a mishmash of:

tomato slices
sticks of cheese
cooled broccoli with long stalks for holding
bits of tofu sausage
pieces of toad in the hole.

  • basically what we were having but with some extra fridge bits thrown in. He also breastfeeds throughout the day. We try to do two highchair meals each day and if he gets three it's a bonus.

Great thanks for the insight :)

Today DS had weetabix and Cheerios apparently (DH), then we went out for lunch and he had baked potato, peas and chicken. Ate quite a bit of that! Will have veg for dinner :)

My 7 month old has really enjoyed cheese on toast cut into fingers. I've given him pasta pieces with bolognese sauce to chew which aren't that messy if lightly coated. Quesadillas filled with cheese and either grated fruit or veggie chilli and cut into strips.
