Milk Allergy?

We started weaning our 6.5 month old son 3 weeks ago, a combination of mashed up and finger foods. He is enthusiastic about everything he's offered and is already on 3 meals a day. He is breastfed.

Tonight we had fresh spaghetti with a fresh tomato sauce and he enjoyed that. He also gummed his way through a bit of garlic bread. He then had some rice pudding made with whole milk. Quite quickly afterwards red blotches came up all round his mouth. However, he was fine in himself, chuckled his way through bathtime and had a 30 minute breastfeed before bed.

It is obviously a reaction to something and I'm wondering if it's the milk. This is because on the one and only occasion he had formula (one of the pre-made cartons) he got the same reaction around his mouth and all over his chest and was sick - the only time he's ever been sick. He was two months old then.

He has eczema if that's relevant.

I'm also worried that we've weaned too quickly. Is that even possible?! We did a few days on pure fruit / veg but he wanted to have what we had so has tried all sorts already eg the garlic bread!

I've weaned two chn before without any problems but they're 8 and 5 now so perhaps I've forgotten how!

Doubt you've weaned too early. They used to stick to fruit and veg at first in the bad old days when they weaned at 4 months.

Does sound like it could be a milk allergy. Have a read of this on allergy uk and this on Kellymom and see if any of it sounds familiar Smile
