6 month old and full fat Greek yogurt

Can 6 month old babies have full fat Greek yogurt? I gave my lg some today with mashed banana (only a few mouthfuls) and then wondered whether she should actually be having it!!

Well, I gave it to my DS and he's now survived to 10 months, so I assume it's OK!

Yes definitely. Why not? They say full fat everything up til age 2 I think.

Yes, of course! That's what I gave my DS from that age. It's a brilliant food for babies, thick, tasty, high in protein, calcium etc and lower in natural sugars than other yoghurts. Far better than the typical "baby" yoghurts that are branded and advertised for babies, which often have added hidden sugar.

Yes it's fine.

Yes, absolutely. As CultureSucks says, it's much better than petit filou and the like (not to mention loads cheaper, especially if you get the supermarket own brand).

What concerns did you have about it?

Thanks everyone - I think I'm just worrying too much about the whole weaning thing and in this case about Greek yogurt being a live yogurt! Then when I looked online some where saying not to give yogurt until 8-9 months! It's a minefield will go with my gut instinct next time! Smile xx

No, water for drinking doesn't need boiling from age 6 months

No, boiled water not needed.

At 6 months, the only things your DD can't have are honey and whole nuts (nut butters are fine)

Water needs boiling to make formula just to kill any bugs in the dried formula powder.

There's a great list of foods to avoid here. I'd be wary of reading too much online. Some articles are pretty far from being evidence based Smile
