Ideas for getting more Calcium into cows milk intolerant baby?

My 7.5m DS was diagnosed with CMPI at about 4/5months, and though he was breastfed initially through it, he is now on Nutramigen formula.

All has been fairly simple with weaning, as he LOVES food, but in the last week or so he has drastically cut back on his formula intake. I'm now struggling to get 300-400mls into him some days, despite making porridge up with milk, making up "creamy" sauces with his milk for pasta etc.

We have seen a dietician, but he was drinking loads of milk when we saw her last (not due to see her till Sept now).

Since he can't have cow's milk, cheese, yogurts etc, can I please have some ideas about how to get more calcium into him? Recipes? Links? Thanks.

There are many other sources of calcium.

Fish like salmon, sardines etc. for small baby salmon is easy to eat

Almonds. Whole but too big but you can use almond flour or ground in things baking. Or can add ground almonds to porridge

White Beans like chick peas/ haricot beans/ butter beans. Houmous is easy for baby to eat, and for super quick lunch mine like just mixed beans and tin tuna or salmon mixed ( like a tuna pasta alternative)

Thanks, Artandco, perhaps he's getting more than I realised then as I often give him things like hummus and fish.

Kleine I'm a tiny bit weary of giving him soya, as I think his cows milk intolerance cross reacted with soya. The dieticians have encouraged me to do a re-introduction trial, but I'm trying to get him off his last night feed first (Just trying to change one thing at a time with him so I can evaluate any change).

Actually have sat down and added up everything he's had today:

(NB always offered 7oz at each feed)

7am - 4oz + weetabix with fruit puree made with 2-3oz
11am - turkey meatballs with sweet potato mash (made with 2oz milk). water
230pm - 3 oz milk
4pm - rice cake and dried fruit
5pm - veggie tagine, blueberries & mango sweet couscous (made with 2oz milk). Water.
630pm - 3 oz milk
night feed - approx. 3-5oz

total about 18oz (540mls).

I'm being a bit overzealous aren't it?

Use almond butter instead of normal butter: as a spread, in pasta or risotto, in soups, even in baking (crumble toppings, cakes etc).

YY to hummus and sardines. Sardines mashed on toast still a favourite with our toddler

.... And Sod's law today is that he's guzzled down two massive 7/8oz bottles.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Will definitely try sardines on toast for him.

Broccoli is a very good source of calcium, and Parmesan cheese has LOADS.

Don't get hung up on dairy products, they're not the most bio-available sources of calcium.

Sorry, just read he can't have cow cheese. There are lots of others around though: sheep (ie feta), goats cheese, etc.
