Weaning

Weaning and breast feeding.

DS is almost 8 months and is BF alongside weaning.

Weaning seems to be going ok - I think - but I'm concerned about how less often he is breast feeding.

Average feeding now is 7am, 11am, 4pm and 7pm. He used to feed about 8+ times a day and although I know the weaning replaces milk I don't feel like he's having enough solids to justify such a drop in his breast feeds.

Can I ask what other people's experiences are?

ds is 8 months and feeds 4 times a day at similar times to yours. If he's active, not waking in the night hungry and still gaining weight I'd say he's getting all he needs. However I can appreciate your concerns as I could of written your post a couple of weeks ago Smile

He's not been weighed for a good few months, it might be worth me just getting him checked if only to quell my worries Grin

He does feed at night but that's because a little sod who has never and probably will never sleep through the night. He usually wakes for a feed at about 1am but it's only a 5 minute job, more a snack than a meal really Grin

Sounds like he's a snacker and just getting used to taking bigger feeds. My dd is just dropping down to 3 feeds at 8 months, with no feeds at night.
