IKEA antilop vs Bjorn appetite?

Antilop is ace, nice and cheap, easily washable, wipes clean, transports well... I haven't tried the other out but for me it's ikea every time

Ikea - perfectly good and still looking like new after two years. You can pop the tray and the chair part in the dishwasher once in a while for a really good clean.

Actually, would go with Stokke Tripp Trapp if your budget stretches to the Bjorn appetite - my kids (now 4 and 2) still use theirs as chairs every day and they are holding up great. Fully expect them to be able to use them until they leave home (e.g. as desk chairs) - sometimes sit on them myself.

My dd is small. Did any of ur lo's slump? Are antelops easy to trip over? I'm pretty clumsy!

Antilop - even if money is no object.

It's easy to clean, easy to transport, and actually looks quite nice.

Having said that, I think the tripp-trapp is a beautiful design.

You can get an insert for the Antilop until she's big enough to fill it better but TBH, my DS2 is a tiny boy and he was much much more stable in the antilop than any other highchair even without the insert.

The legs are mildly irritating to trip over though.

yes, pretty easy. We had the Antilop and I liked it but I now wish we'd gone for one of those ones that 'grow' with your child, DD has struggled with various booster seats and is currently on a cushion on a chair which isn't really working either!

you can buy a inflatable insert for £5 from ikea specific for the highchair. Dd was also tiny and needed it for a while

Other than Tripp trapped what grows with child? Did others find their children progressed straight from antilop to big chair?

I'd say Antilop followed by an Urban junior chair.

Both my DC are little and I always have a cushion in the high chair to prop up, but just buy a cheap cotton one from a supermarket and wash when needed (and bin when it's too bad!)

Betold sorry for appearing dumb but u use cushion in antilop? Does it affect where legs go through holes?

Mine went from the antilop to a big chair without problems.

So.... what are you going to do with the £150 you've just saved by not buying the Bjorn thingy?

Antilop and then a ikea junior chair. £50 in total which is a lot cheaper than a tripp trapp (even excluding the baby bits)! DD started with the antilop and moved onto a junior chair when just over 2. I got one that matches the colour of our dining chairs.

flavourflave no, why would a child slump over and why do you need a cushion? They are supposed to be sitting unaided when they go into a high chair. That means they can also sit in the middle of the room with no support, IYSWIM. How do you handle eating out? None of the high chairs eating out has padding. That's just a con for parents IMHO. And cushions make it a PITA cleaning wise. They get seriously dirty when they are young. (And DD still do at 3)

flavourflave my DD is very small, about 25% centile. So she needs a junior chair and still in high chair when eating out. She can't reach the dining table when sitting on our chairs. But she also refused to sit in the high chair at home when just over 2. She's very stubborn and thought of herself as very grown up though. (She also refused bibs etc). If yours don't complain, you can continue using the antilop until they are tall enough for normal chairs. It's very very roomy.

Antilop every time. I bought the insert for ds because he was my first and Ikea is a fair drive away if I needed to go back and get one used it for about 4 weeks.

Tray easily unclips and the whole thing can go in the dishwasher (legs excluded.

Ds went from high chair, to his own little table and chair for snacks and lunch and just sits with us on a normal dining chair for evening/family meals.

I now give an anitlop as a gift to new parents. Even if the want a big fancy pants £££ one, the anitlop gets used as a spare for traveling or goes to grandparents etc.

It is fab!

Our little just enquiring about where he told put her cushion. I guess I need to pull away from the Bjorn and embrace the antilop and try not to trip on those spindly legs... Tho Bjorn also seems to have similar legs too...

I just stick the cushion behind DS as he's little and it stops him leaning back too far. It doesn't come round the sides, but it stops him climbing out too as there is less wriggle room!

We also have a spare cushion in the car for eating out, it just makes things a bit easier for us. But DS is on the 2nd centile so very little.

DD is 4.5 and loves the junior chair, means she can sit in a good position at the table and doesn't need a booster.

Another Antilop fan here. We've just bought a second for DS2. He has the inflatable cushion in his as he tends to get very excited about tea time and was banging his head on the back of it when he was trying to bounce...

23mo DS1 still sits in his but the tray has been taken off so he can sit right up at the table with us.

I never used a cushion. Aha. My DD never leaned on the back of the seat. I think they are all just so different, ins't it?
