3 meals a day

Hello, I'm just wondering when people started to give their babies 3 meals a day as I keep finding conflicting advice.

My baby is 7 (and a half) months and on two meals normally breakfast around 8.30 and tea which moves around a bit depending on naps and bottles but between 3 and 4.30. He often has a little something at other times of the day if somebody is eating something he likes the look of and has started to eat a little more lately.

I think 3 meals would suit him but should I feed him later at night or around dinner time and afternoon? Also did you keep one of the meals quite snacky? Like veg sticks and pitta/dips rather than a full on meal.

We're on 3 meals and mix spoon feeding and finger foods at all of his meals averaging approx 500g solids a day and 3 x 8oz bottles. We went straight to offering solids 3 Times a day and are letting him decide how much he wants.
Time wise his solids are when we eat (8, 13.30, 17.30) with his bottles about 90min before each meal. I think an evening bottle would be good but ours gets really bad wind still so it's not practical before bedtime so we just tale dinner very slowly so he eats until he is full.

The current nhs advice is to move gradually to 3 meals between 8 and 9 months. Sounds pretty much what you are doing Smile

I tend to give my seven month old rice in the morning and then a dinner. Then in the evening some fruit purée

I haven't gone on to give a second main meal but will do as he turns 8 months in the next couple of weeks
