I'm feeling sick to the stomach over what I've done. Sorry, this is a bit long...
I have 11 mo DTs and I think I've set up
poor eating habits.
They both refuse fruit & veg as finger food- even sweet strawberries! My older DD lived off fruit at this age! They are often constipated, so for most puddings they have puréed pears, prunes & dates mixed with plain yoghurt- I'm worried this has given them too much of a sweet tooth. They also have diluted apple juice for their drinks- because they are constipated I'm always trying to get more liquid down them, but now they won't drink water!
One of them will only eat puréed food- I still blend all their food with a stick blender. It's not totally smooth, but for example she won't eat a 10 month + pouch as that's too lumpy. My most troublesome DT often has periods where she refuses food totally, the last time she didn't eat for a whole month & I've only just got her eating normally since last Sunday, so I'm always a bit scared to put her off too much.
I tried BLW with them but they won't eat anything of substance. For finger food they'll happily eat breadsticks, organix carrot stick crisps, sweetcorn, Cheerios & raisins. But everything else gets thrown on the floor.
I don't know how to change them- have I left it too late? If they don't eat enough in the day, they just wake in the night for milk instead, so I feel like I'm in a hole that I can't get out of! I'm also worried they won't develop their speech muscles properly (as they're not chewing enough). My older DD has a speech delay, so I don't want to create one for them too
Does anyone have any advice? Thanks
