Weaning

6 month old tongue reflex

Hi, I am trying to wean my 6 month old. I am starting with baby rice. Her tongue reflex seems very strong still - in fact it is hard to get the spoon in if I don't angle it towards the top of her mouth. I don't remember having this problem before. This is her fifth day with no improvement. I was looking forward to weaning as she is still waking to feed at least twice a night. Should I leave it for a while?

Does she pick up food herself? You could maybe try that?
Weaning didn't help sleep with us though went worse if anything!

I went down the baby led weaning route with my 2. DD1 is 4.5 & DD2 is nearly 9 months.
Neither wanted to be spoon fed so we just put the food we were eating on their high hair tray.
To begin with they hardly are anything, but mealtimes have never been stressful Halloween Smile.

Try the finger food route.

If she can't do that then leave it a few days, no big deal 6 months isn't an exact age readiness can vary from 4-8/9 months. Relax :)

Thanks all. Will try the blw route. I have a mortal fear of choking so I probably will be on very high alert!

Try pureed pear? Could be she just doesn't like baby rice, it's pretty disgusting stuff!
