DD is 7m and have just worked out she is having 25-28oz milk per day. Formula, that is.
It goes:
7am: 7 oz bottle
8am: porridge, fruit
10am: tiny snack of fruit or couple morsels cheese
12ish: lunch (shep pie with veg etc, yoghurt) with 4oz bottle
4.30: teatime (pasta with cheese sauce etc, fruit) with 4oz bottle
6.45: evening bottle of 6 oz
Then a middle of the night 7oz bottle that she drains completely.
I keep offering water or v watered down appe juice with her morning snack and with her lunch and tea but she basically refuses it.
Is she having too much bottle? She is enjoying her solids mst of the time (as long as I find something she enjoys!!) but I don't know if she is prepared to consume much more actual food at the mo, I worry that if I reduce her milk she would be hungry? Otoh I know the process is about weaning OFF milk!!
And she is using the milk to slake her thirst anyway I think. If she refuses water etc how can she get enough fluid without the milk? She already gets a bit constipated which is why I am so keen for her to have more water.
I have tried a beaker and also tried getting her to sip from a little cup with no spout, plus recently tried a kind f spouty training cup thing. She won't drink from any of them.
I don't know if it is the liquid itself she doesn't like or the vessel.
Either way I think she gets thirsty!!
Also, isn't this too much milk for her at this stage? She isn't a massive baby, 50th centile.
