If you did trad weaning, what does your 9mo eat?

I weaned/ am weaning traditionally, using purées and spoons.

I just wondered what kind of finger foods 9 mo babies eat if weaned this way and what consistency meals are?

Thanks!

My Dd is 10 months (was prem tho, so more like a 6/7m£ and we have moved from purée up to lumpy food. I also leave finger food on her tray but so far she's not put any in her mouth on her own yet.

Banana is good because its easy to move from purée to gradually small chunks and DD learnt to mash it through her gums and then once she got the hang of that, I started giving her firmer lumps - cooked veg, soft pasta etc.

Finger type foods I offer are banana, cheese, bread sticks.

I make baby pasta with a spinach and ricotta sauce, he has little lumps of banana and little pieces of toast (and other stuff, but you get my drift) but I wondered how much finger food and what size you give?

Also, I just fork mash some our food too.

Just wanted a rough idea really, so thanks for replying pingulingo!

Do you purée it? Or mash it? Or cut it up?

hi ds is 9.5 months and I have done a mix of purees and finger foods. today for breakfast he had weetabix mixed with pureed apple, and half a banana as finger food ie just snapped in half. For lunch he had soft cheese sandwich with cucumber sticks and rice pudding (spoon fed) for dessert. For tea he had lentils and red pepper (annabel karmel recipe) followed by a yoghurt.
Tomorrow he will have shreddies for breakfast with half a banana, hes got cheesy leek mash for lunch and pancakes (as finger food) for dinner.

Ds is 8mo and I started weaning him just before six months. This is an average day:

Ready break for breakfast

Lunch either an Ella's stage 3 pouch or left overs of our dinner cut up ie spag bol/risotto/roast chicken/sausage mash and veg

Tea is finger foods he likes crumpets, toast, cheese, quavers Blush and a yoghurt.

He has fruit if I feed it to him. It's too slippery for him to hold!

I started by pureeing it then made it lumpy until around 10months when i just began mashing up his food and shredding things like chicken.

Thanks all! That's what I do now, cut or shred his meals. I still do finger food quite small and wonder when this needs to be bigger!

Will check out the book rec, thank you!

Every baby is different and overnight my DS went from needing everything chopped into small pieces to being able to manage a half slice of toast. Just go with the flow.
