Let her eat. There's loads of evidence that weaning before 17 weeks can cause problems, but not much to suggest that waiting until 6 months is better. In fact most eu counties say 4 -6 months.

Books are guidelines please .... I always used to say: read them, absorb the info, then throw them out the window, and get on with mothering!! grin
Your baby is telling you she wants to eat, your instinct is telling you to let her (or you would have been sweeping all food opportunities out of her reach!) ......so go with your gut.

Go for it. I can't see 2 weeks making much difference.

My DD announced her readiness to start solids at about the same age by grabbing a slice of pizza off my plate and shoving it her gob. We started BLW the next day and have never looked back.

Enjoy it and take lots of pictures of food firsts!

There's a list of foods not recommended before 6 months here: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/Pages/solid-foods-weaning.aspx

Basically it's best to stick to fruit and veg smile .

Thanks everyone!
She stole her sisters croissant this morning, so I think it's time to give her her own food!
It's like living with a Racoon grin.

Go for it! I started DS at 17 weeks because he was doing the same. The only thing really to avoid is honey for a year old, otherwise just try everything. I got a fab weaning book from mothercare by annabel karmel smile

I would really just let her eat.sounds like she's keen!

It's two weeks, it's only a guideline. Do it, she'll love it!!

Thanks. My BLW book is adamant that before 6 months is a bad idea, but she is genuinely eating & enjoying it.

I would just let her get on with it TBH. I weaned all 3 of mine at this time as they were very keen.

BLW. She wants to eat. Let her eat.

However my DCs are 25, 20 and 11 and in those days it was ok.

DD2 has been very interested in food since she was about 5 months.
She started grabbing food off of our plates & enjoyed playing with/mouthing it.
She's 5.5 months now & has turned into a scavenger! She grabs anything & actually eats some of it.
I don't remember DD1 being this enthusiastic.
Should I try to stop this & wait until she's 6 months or just go with the flow?
Are there any foods I should avoid before 6 months? i have a dim recollection of bread, eggs & strawberries not being recommended.
Any help/advice will be gratefully received grin.
