Portion sizes for five month old?

I have just started weaning my 23 wo ds and am really unsure on portion sizes. He was having 210ml/7oz of formula every 3 hours. I have replaced his 11am bottle with veg and fruit, and he's currently having 3 ice cubes of carrot with baby rice and then 2 cubes of fruit. He's then having 2 more cubes of fruit with his 5pm bottle (but with the same amount of milk as before).

I'm really worried about overfeeding but just can't find any guidance in portion sizes? I don't want him to go hungry!

He won't go hungry as long as you don't drop any milk feeds. If you are worried about hunger, I'd just reinstate the bottle you've dropped Smile

Have you read the Mn weaning info? Its very good Smile

I would add the bottle back in that you have dropped and let him drop the milk of his own accord. First stage weaning is about new tastes and textures not to replace milk.

Yes, agree with others, offer milk as usual and let dc child refuse it rather than you decide to take it away. I wouldn't expect a milk feed to be stopped for several weeks. Get plenty off food ready and prepare to chuck some. Your baby will eat until they are done, and if they take too much they will be sick! They self regulate well!
