Weaning

Bored by finger food

My 9 mth old ds eats a good diet of some puréed and some finger food. He loves his grub and always tucks in enthusiastically.

I find that if I just give him finger food, eg he had slices of cucumber, pepper, baby corn, bread sticks and houmous for lunch, he tucks in happily, fills up his mouth then spends the next ten mins chewing with his two newly popped through teeth and his gums.

He then starts to get annoyed because all the food is still being chewed and he hasn't swallowed much.

He often then spits it out!

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? He seems bored by all the chewing! He could chew for 45 mins but hardly eat anything then get bored of sitting in the high chair!

My 12 month old does this, he starts off all enthusiastic, crams his mouth full then spits it out. I wouldn't worry, just keep offering & he will get it in the end. I put more down than he can eat so he can try again with his next mouthful. He also got better with age & night weaning.
