How much does your LO eat?

DD is 6 1/2 months; been trying bits and pieces since just before 5 months and in the last few weeks has taken to it really well.
She is being weaned on a mix of BLW, purees, Jars and pouches (mainly the stage 2 ones as she seems to prefer it - can't blame her they do taste more interesting!)

6 - 7am. 6oz bottle, 1/2 a jar or pouch of fruit based baby breakfast & a finger of toast

11am. 6ox bottle, a few baby snacks - carrot sticks / mini rice crackers and some fruit.

3pm. 6oz bottle, 1/2 a savoury meat based main dish jar or pouch, yogurt or fruit puree.

6 - 7pm. 6oz bottle and depending on her afternoon nap she sometimes stays up and eats with us (last night she had some mashed down veg (a few spoons), some broccoli and cauliflower to feed herself and a slice of home made garlic bread) or 1/2 a pouch of veg and a yogurt if we are eating once she's gone to bed.

Im not asking for views on the use of jars / pouches - just interested if this sounds similar to what other 6 1/2 months eat!

Thanks in advance!

Are you worried she may be having too much or too little ginger? Haven't got a Lo anymore so can't answer your question sorry Smile

That sounds similar to what DD was having at about 7/8mo. She was still having a good 24+oz of milk, and then having maybe half a jar and a yoghurt, picking at some fruit, maybe a rice cake or two as well during the day. In fact, that actually sounds pretty good!

I think it's recommended that you space out the milk and food, though. So 6am might be the breakfast bottle, then 7.30ish would be some breakfast; 11 would be a bottle, and midday would be lunch.

Thanks for the responses; sorry should have said - there is usually a gap between solids and bottle (or vicer vicera) of 1/2 hour or so. DD also is also offered an ounce or two of water after solids.

I guess I was worried its too much.

I had horrific (no understatement) eating habits as a child which lasted well into my teenage years (when I met DH). This led to me being a very overweight child (I'm 4ft 11 and was around 14st at one point). Although I know this was down in the main to the family life and me & DH now have a relatively healthy balanced diet I am slightly prone to worrying over DD developing healthy positive food associations!

Can totally understand why you would be anxious then ginger. Have you thought of doing blw, just so she can control her own intake? Have you seen the Mn weaning recipes and read the MN info on weaning? Might give you a bit of reassurance Smile

Oh and it's not a criticism but I'd offer the water in a sippy cup with meals, not after and have you thought of using oatibix, ready brek or weetabix instead of a cereal just for babies. You could always mix them with fruit like chopped banana, raisins or berries if you want them fruity and it will save you moneySmile
