Holiday food for 7 month old

Hi. Going on holiday to Isle of Wight with Dd1 3yrs and dd2 7 month old next month for 2 weeks. I currently prep all dd2 r food at home and have not used any jars etc- have a freezer full of mush.

Any suggestions of how I cater for her on holiday?

As don't really want to spend my holiday mushing food but I don't want to feed her jars for the two weeks either - concerned she will get too used to them and not want my food when back home.

She can't handle lumps and gags if any in her food. She has no teeth and struggles with even a simple rice cake. She and I both don't get on with baby led weaning - she gags all the time and I worry!

We are in self catering accommodation, cant believe the only option is for me to spend first day of holiday cooking a supply of food the rest of hol.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

can't you take the stuff you've already made i just a cool bag? pack it with extra ice to ensure it stays frozen? if its SC it must have a fridge with ice box to keep them in?

Can you persevere a little with hand held foods?

DD2 was terrible a couple of weeks ago, gagged on half the stuff I gave her, and had next to no hand co-ordination. I was tearing my hair out! But the past couple of days, she's really getting the hang of it and had a good go at some roast potato, carrot and chicken yesterday.

I found easily disolvable biscuits like the Heinz baby biscotti or even sponge fingers help with this. (sponge fingers are very sugary though!)

PS I was in the same dilemma as you as we're going on holiday soon and I didn't want to rely on jars either Wink

Can u not just eat thinks like Mac and cheese, jacket potatoes, stew, fish pie etc which is easily mushed with a fork .? Get in some bananas when u get there as they easily mashable too. Can u take a hand blender?

If you don't want to eat early with her then maybe just mash up left overs of an evening and she can have that for lunch/tea following day. A jacket potato would do her two or three meals if mashed up with Tuna and cheese. Steve with mashable veg like squash or sewed or celeriac. Stuff u can have too but can "adult up" a bit with some nutmeg or something

We were in a similar position when DS was the same age. First hour of our holiday DH unpacked whilst i sorted DS' food for the week and stuck it in the freezer in the lodge. Had taken some pre prepared fresh mush with us in a cool bag. Did some veg and chicken mush whilst he unpacked... Easy and hassle free. Depends how you're travelling i guess.

Some good suggestions on here already. Just wondered if you'd read this on gagging and choking?
